Fairfield Families Push Back to Keep Trump Official Out of Local Elementary School
A groundswell of parent opposition in Fairfield has halted a planned elementary school visit by a Trump regime official whose tour was connected to MAGA groups like Turning Point USA, according to a new report by CT Insider.
Fairfield’s McKinley Elementary had planned to host a visit by Linda McMahon, a Connecticut resident whose tenure as U.S. Education Secretary has been marked by her attempts to advance the radical right-wing goal of abolishing the Department of Education.
According to reporting by CT Insider, local education officials quickly scrapped the controversial visit after a wave of concerned parents voiced opposition to inviting the Republican official into the elementary school.
“Following this evening’s announcement about the Secretary of Education’s planned visit to McKinley on Friday, we heard from many families who expressed concerns and shared that they were considering keeping their children home,” Fairfield Superintendent of Schools Michael Testani wrote, according to CT Insider. “Due to these circumstances, the Secretary of Education’s visit to Fairfield has been canceled.”
McMahon, former head of the WWE, is currently facing litigation alleging she knew about-- and chose not to stop-- sexual abuse against eight underage ‘ring boys,’” according to Axios. Her scheduled visit to a Connecticut elementary school involved the Trump regime’s “America 250 Civics Education Coalition,” which includes a number of MAGA groups like Turning Point USA.
CT Insider reported that Testani, Fairfield’s superintendent, said the district had received “numerous” complaints from parents within hours of announcing McMahon’s visit.
“After listening carefully to our community and sharing those concerns with officials in Washington, the decision was made to cancel Friday’s program,” the superintendent wrote, according to CT Insider.
